'We will keep monitoring the chance to sign new players', he says.
Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs has confirmed that the German club have not been able to carve out a deal with Tottenham for the transfer of Niko Kranjcar.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed that the Croatian midfielder is looking to move away from the north London club due to a lack of first-team football, but the Bundesliga outfit's efforts to land the 26-year-old have borne no fruit.

"We have been looking at the chance to bring in this player [Kranjcar]," Allofs told Deutsche Presseagentur.

"Anyway, we were unable to materialise a deal at the very end.

"There was a chance to do that, but obviously the player's club did not want to risk the chance to go far in the Uefa Champions League as well as in the league."

He added: "We will keep monitoring the chance to sign new players.

"We intend to find solutions, we want to improve. I am still in talks with player agents."

Kranjcar has a contract with Tottenham until 2013.
