Deal expected to be completed on Monday.
Liverpool have confirmed that striker Luis Suarez has passed his medical with the club and they expect the move to go through on Monday.

Liverpool's public pursuit of the Uruguayan striker has been a long drawn out affair but it finally appears that they have virtually landed their man.

The club agreed a fee of 26.5million Euros with the Uruguayan striker's club Ajax on Friday after negotiations had been on-going for a number of weeks.

The final details of the move are expected to be finalised tomorrow morning according to a Liverpool spokesperson:

"Luis Suarez has successfully passed his medical and personal terms with the player have been agreed. We expect to complete the remainder of the paperwork tomorrow."

The striker has been on the radar of many of Europe’s top clubs in recent seasons with his blistering goal scoring record in Dutch football.

Last season the striker, who can also play on either wing, scored 49 goals in all competitions for Ajax and also starred for the Uruguay national team in the 2010 World Cup scoring three goals.

He also caused controversy in the quarter-final win over Ghana as he intentionally hand-balled a shot which was destined for the goal in the final few moments of the game. Sunderland’s Asamoah Gyan missed the resultant spot kick much to the jubilation of Suarez standing on the sideline.

Suarez was also suspended for seven games in the Eredivisie earlier this season for biting PSV’s midfielder Otman Bakkal.
