Seasiders pick up Republic of Ireland midfielder.
Sunderland midfielder Andy Reid has completed his proposed move to Blackpool for an undisclosed fee, the Black Cats have officially confirmed.

Reports earlier on deadline day suggested that Seasiders boss Ian Holloway was weighing up a move for the former Charlton Athletic player and they have now completed the switch.

The acquisition of Reid will lead to an increase in speculation over the future of Blackpool captain Charlie Adam, who handed in a transfer request last week after a bid for his services from Liverpool was rejected.

The former Republic of Ireland international has had limited first team opportunities for Steve Bruce’s men this term following the emergence of Jordan Henderson, making just three appearances.

Reidhas recently returned from a loan spell at Sheffield United, where he made nine appearances and scored two goals, is the third player to exit the Stadium of Light in this transfer window following Pablo Da Silav’s departure to Zaragoza and David Healy’s move to Rangers.

No details have yet been released on the length of contract for the player, who will now want to help Blackpool continue their positive start to their debut Premier League season.
