Alonso is not giving up on their league dreams despite losing to Osasuna.
Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has refused to give up on their league title hopes despite the Blancos going down 1-0 to Osasuna in Pamplona on Sunday evening.

Madrid's defeat in the Spanish Primera Division sees them fall a massive seven points behind league leaders and defending champions Barcelona, who won against Hercules on Saturday.

With Barca having won 15 successive games, there is the suggestion that Madrid's title chase is already over but Alonso doesn't buy this and has been quoted by Madrid's official website as saying, "The deficit between Barcelona and us has increased, but there are a lot of matches left to play and we need to continue chugging along.

"We know things aren't easy, but we have to look ahead and continue with the good work we have been doing."

Reflecting on their performance in Pamplona, Alonso stated, "We knew whoever scored first would hold the upper hand, but unfortunately it was them.

"The Reyno de Navarra is always a difficult place to play in because the fans are so close and they pour on the heat. The game got a lot tougher once they scored. The coach made three simultaneous changes to change match dynamics."

"We need to think ahead, focus on our next match against Sevilla and then on our next league game."
