Obafemi Martins Seals Birmingham Loan Deal

Striker passes medicals and gets work permit.
Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins has sealed a loan deal with English side Birmingham until the end of the season. He was granted a work permit on Monday afternoon hours before the winter transfer window closed.

Martins who was part of the Nigeria team to the World Cup in South Africa has returned to England after an unsettled sojourn in both Germany and Russia.

The birth of his child also influenced his move as he stated he would like to be closer to his family in England.

He left Newcastle two seasons ago for Wolfsburg before moving to Rubin Kazan a season later.

Birmingham are expected to pay him £40,000 weekly with a view to signing him fully at the end of the season.
