Semioli will miss the rest of 2010-11 after he has ankle surgery.
Sampdoria winger Franco Semioli will be out for the remainder of the season after making the decision to undergo surgery on his right ankle, according to Corriere Mercantile.

The 30-year-old has been plagued by injury problems since joining the Blucerchiati from Fiorentina in 2009. He has made only seven appearances this season and has not featured in an official match since October 2010.

The player visited a specialist in Spain and will soon go under the knife.

Semioli made a name for himself from 2003 to 2007 with Chievo Verona, before moving on to the Viola. After struggling to get an extended run in the starting line-up he joined Sampdoria.

He has three caps for Italy during his career, but none since a friendly versus South Africa over three years ago.
