Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi claims that the club now represents his home, as he explains his decision to sign a contract extension.
Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has been explaining the reasons behind his decision to extend his contract with the club until 2016, asserting that he now feels absolutely at home at El Madrigal.
The Italian put paid to recent transfer speculation linking him with a move to either Tottenham or Juventus by signing a three-year addition to his old deal, and committing his long-term future to the Primera Division outfit.
Speaking to the media yesterday evening, the 23-year-old also stated that he feels the Yellow Submarines are now an important club in European football, saying: “This is my home and I am happy here.
“This team has good players and a great coach. I’m very happy to play here until 2016. From day one they have treated me very well. It is like a family, and that’s why I am so happy with this renewal.
“I have clear ideas and I know what I want. What the newspapers say sometimes is not right. I always wanted to renew with Villarreal. I’m getting more goals than ever. I can go on like this, for my goals help the team to win games.”
The former Manchester United attacker also thanked the club for helping him to progress as a player since his arrival in 2007.
He added: “When the years pass, you gain experience and that is what has happened to me. My dream has always been to play in a great team, and that is what I am doing.”
