PSV Defender Marcelo Doubtful For AZ Clash

PSV defender Marcelo will probably miss this weekend's match against AZ.
PSV coach Fred Rutten may have to make do without the services of Brazilian defender Marcelo when the Eindhoven side take on 2008-09 Eredivisie champions AZ on Saturday evening.

The centre-back sustained a knee injury in PSV's 3-0 Eredivisie win over VVV back in January and has since been unavailable.

Rutten was initially hopeful that the 23-year-old would be recovered in time for Saturday's clash, but the PSV gaffer is now having second thoughts about Marcelo's availability.

"We are going to be cautious with him. Forcing him makes no sense. We will look at it on a day-to-day basis and we will decide on Friday or Saturday whether he is going to play," Rutten told Voetbal International.

Marcelo has made 17 Eredivisie appearances for PSV since joining them from Wisla Krakow last summer, scoring one goal in the process.
